Prompt 09/20/2011: Developing Snapshots
What you’ll need: 4 note cards, a pen, a sheet of paper (or a couple!), a timer, and a group. [note: if you don’t have a group available, don’t fret. Keep reading.]
On your first note card, you’ll have 3 minutes to describe (in any form, in any way) a person that you used to be friends with but, for whatever reason, aren’t anymore.
2nd note card: 2 minutes to describe someone in the room that you don’t know. [once again, if you are doing this on your own, don’t worry about this one. Unless you want to write about your weird new roommate who doesn’t ever speak to you.]
3rd note card: 1 minute to describe someone you’re related to.
Last note card: 30 seconds to describe yourself.
If you’re in a group, throw all your note cards together into one big pile (a “note card stew,” I like to call it). Then pick at least two from the pile (make sure they’re not yours!) and write a piece based on the characters on those cards. If you’re doing this prompt on your own, click one of the numbers below to receive a random note card (from the ACTUAL meeting!). You have 15 minutes. Go.

Stay tuned for this coming Tuesday. Rachel, your vice president who likes talking in the third person, will be running the prompt! It’s going to get real!
