Prompt 2/12/13: Many Voices
It’s time to get out of your head. Stop thinking about everything you’re trying to write or say and get headless; just go.
Grab a crowd and stand in a circle facing each other. Play several overlapping clips of spoken or slam poetry to get you started and just talk for as long as you can. Don’t think about what you’re saying, don’t think about what the people around you are saying, just go. This can be a rant, a tirade, a story you’re writing out loud. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as you let yourself talk.
When you’ve gone for as long as you can, sit down and write for fifteen minutes. There are no limits or guidelines. The only rules are that you cannot self edit, cross out, or stop writing. Don’t think, just go.
